SPOILER FREE REVIEW:
Fallout
Now, fans of the game, don't get all upset with me, but this reviewer hasn't really played it. This is a review purely based on what Amazon served up, and in this context, I could be described by die-hard fans as a bit of a "normy."
Amazon's Fallout TV series is an entertaining ride that excels in world-building, capturing the essence of its post-apocalyptic setting. I particularly love the 1960s cold war vibe and the mix of fantastic technology that leaves you questioning everything about the evolution of this parallel Earth - where the cold war ended the worst possible way. The TV show also has a lot to say in terms of capitalism and it's active role in the terrifying end result.
I'm told that some fans of the game might find certain elements challenging, but I felt that the show offered a captivating blend of comedy and drama that should appeal to a broad audience. There are some gross elements that will put off the more squeamish of watchers, but I suppose you can't have a post apocalyptic irradiated wasteland and make it all kittens and teddy bears, can you?
For anyone who enjoys a unique take on the apocalypse, and we certainly do here at Sci-Fi Theatre, this series is worth a watch.
